Military Child Care
Looking for a way to support our troops?
Operation: Military Child Care is a Department of Defense initiative created to meet the child care needs of military parents who are mobilized or deployed in support of the Global War on Terrorism. The program provides financial assistance and help locating quality child care for eligible military families who do not have access to on-base options. Eligible child care programs must either be accredited or licensed with a current CDA.
Who is Eligible?
- National Guard, Reserve, and Active Duty members activated or deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan, and other locations.
- Geographically dispersed activated or deployed Active Duty Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines.
Benefits for Child Care Programs:
- NACCRRA receive applications from the Service Member's child care provider.
- Once approved, providers receive monthly direct deposits from NACCRRA that do not reduce existing child care fees.
- NACCRRA and parents each provide co-payments equal to the provider's existing rates.
Military Child Care in Your Neighborhood is a National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (NACCRRA) and Department of Defense (DoD) program designed to help Service Members locate quality child care and provide them with fee assistance. This program supports Service Members who cannot access DoD's on-base child care programs due to assignments away from military installations.
Who is Eligible?
- Geographically dispersed Active Duty families with no access to on-base child care, such as Recruiters, Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) instructors, and Military Entrance Processing (MEPS) personnel.
- Service Members on independent duty assignments.
Benefits for Child Care Programs:
- NACCRRA staff work with providers already caring for children of military families to become qualified for the program.
- Once approved, NACCRRA pays providers a regular direct deposit of a portion of the Service Member's child care fees that does not reduce their existing child care rates.
